The International Society of Marketing presents the 2026 Fall Teaching and Learning Conference in Austin, Texas, October 14–16. The theme is Teaching Through Change. The conference is open to faculty who teach business classes at any level.
Present your work
Proposals close Monday, September 8, 2026. Review is rolling, with decisions returned within seven days.
Twelve sessions across two and a half days, including lightning rounds, panels, and research talks. There is no concurrent programming, so you never have to choose between sessions.
Choose from four peer-reviewed presentation formats:
- Lightning Lesson — Demonstrate a tool, trick, or lesson that works. One-page handout, 5–7 minutes, no slides.
- Panel Discussion — You bring the panel and the topic.
- Panel Topic — You bring the topic; ISM helps find the panelists.
- ISM Teaching Impact Award — A 15-minute presentation of teaching-focused research.
Take part
Panel: Teaching Effectiveness Under the 2026 AACSB Global Standards
Thursday, October 15 at 1 PM. The 2026 AACSB Global Standards move teaching effectiveness into Standard 3 as a faculty qualification criterion, not only a school-wide assessment activity under Standard 7. Schools must define their own criteria, with full evaluation beginning in 2029–30.
Three panelists take it up from three sides: Dr. Rama Yelkur, Executive Dean at Texas Woman’s University and an AACSB Peer Review Team chair; Dr. Zhen Li, Associate Dean for Accreditation at TWU, who is building a teaching-effectiveness framework now; and Alexis B. Stokes, Dean of the Bill Munday School of Business at St. Edward’s University in Austin.
The ISM Teaching Impact Award
Submissions are a 3–5 page paper describing the scholarship of teaching and learning, pedagogical innovation, curriculum enhancement, or an academic case study in project-based learning. The award aligns with the newest AACSB teaching effectiveness criteria.
The winner receives $500 at the conference and free registration for the 2027 ISM Fall Conference.
Where you’ll be
The conference hotel sits in Austin’s Rainey Street District, on the southeast edge of downtown. It is a walkable neighborhood of converted bungalows turned restaurants and bars, with the Lady Bird Lake hike-and-bike trail a block away and the Mexican American Cultural Center next door.
Because ISM runs no concurrent programming, evenings are free. Rainey Street is a good place to spend them.
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is about fifteen minutes away by car. The Texas State Capitol, the Convention Center, and Sixth Street are all within a short walk or a very short ride.
